SUBJECT: Notice of proposed Management mid-terns change -Upgrading of all HUD's desktop operating systems to Windows XP
In
accordance with Article 5, Section. 4 of the HUD/AFGE Agreement, this is
notification that the Office of Information Technology Operations will be
upgrading all of HUD's desktop operating systems from Windows 95 (HUDware II)
to Windows XP. The upgrade will commence in April 2003. There should be minimum
impact to IIUD employees.
All
HUD employees will have the opportunity to receive a two-hour training course
in Windows XP. The course will include the following key computing concepts:
• New feature of Windows XP
• Understand users roles and
responsibilities
• Login to the computer
o Change
password
o Locking
workstation
• Navigate through the Windows XP
screens
• Access personal and Departmental data
folders
• Managing users files
• Access network printers
• Access the Internet
• Log off the computer properly
Please
submit any preliminary proposals related to the impact of implementing the
Windows XP operating system within 10 calendar days of receipt of this
