Give thanks--Give to CFC

Give thanks--Give to CFC

The Council of HUD Locals is pleased to encourage you to donate through the Combined Federal Campaign.

The Federal Times reported on November 14 that OPM has changed the regulations charities must follow to participate in CFC. OPM continues to screen to eliminate charities that are suspected of connections to terrorist activities, and charities must certify that they do not hire members of or contribute to terrorist groups. However, OPM no longer requires that charities review the terrorist watch lists and fire employees on those lists.

These lists frequently include errors. For example, a Congressperson from Alaska and a Senator from Massachusetts were denied boarding on airlines because their names appeared on one of the lists. The TSA expedited boarding program is being delayed because of persistent errors on the lists. Last year, the Council expressed support for CFC charities while also expressing concern about use of the lists to fire people without an opportunity to challenge errors.

This year, we are pleased to support the Combined Federal Campaign without reservation.

This Thanksgiving, please remember to give to CFC.
