| August, 2005 - Former Governor Howard Dean, (State of Vermont) Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, was in San Antonio this month for the Democratic National Committee's Hispanic Leadership Summit. The Democratic party is trying to increase hispanic presence in leadership positions in the party as well as increasing the number of hispanics running for office at all levels of government.
